I Guess you have heard of reborn dolls. They seemed to look like live newborns but arent. Because of the life-like characteristic of these reborn dolls theyve been mistaken for real newborns.
Last July 2008 - Queensland, Australia, it was reported that a police smashed a car window to save what looked like an lifeless baby but later on found out that it was just a reborn baby doll. The police said that the doll was "very believable. The people whove witnessed the incident were also anxious for the baby because they too thought that it was indeed a true baby.
Unreal, yet so real! You could have seen few of these reborn dolls in malls, fashion shops, or in the trade fairs were they are being held by older women or placed in strollers as if they are real newborns. Theyre as well settled in cars laying seatbelts on them so they can be guarded from any unseemly incident. A number of older women clothe the dolls and bathe their hair. Indeed, these reborn babies are well treated and are well attended for as if they are real infants - real babies.
Most of reborn baby doll owners are merely doll collectors. While some used these dolls to take the place of a baby they once lost or have already grown up kids and miss their kids childhood. And others could have gone through miscarriages and could not pay for adoption. Consequently they adopt reborn dolls instead.
Adopting a reborn baby doll has stoked social and psychological issues. Studies advise holding a baby triggers a release of hormones which create a sense of emotional well-being With that, some experts deem this may occur with lifelike babies as well. Thus holding reborn baby dolls may produce what is known as cuddle therapy.
Holding reborn baby dolls may aid grieving mothers to comfort them of their loneliness. Yet, some child bereavement experts inform parents against substituting their deceased baby with dolls. Reborn dolls must only imply a step to the grieving process and that parents shouldnt be completely attached to their reborn as it might signify their angst is not geting resolved at all.
